SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The University of Hawai'i at Hilo came into the Conlan Center undefeated on Saturday night and left with another win under its belt, defeating the Dominican University of California women 25-22, 25-20, 25-13.

With the win, the Vulcans improve to 13-0 and stand atop the Pacific West Conference at 3-0. The Lady Penguins drop to 3-10 and 0-3 in conference play.

Dominican started strong in game one, leading 17-10 but a 10-1 Vulcan run flipped things around to put UHH ahead 20-18. A 4-1 run by UHH capped the first set 25-22.

Brooke Swingle's serving was unstoppable in game two, as Dominican rode the setter's strong service that included three aces to seven straight points and an 18-17 lead. However a 7-1 Vulcan run did the Penguins in in game two.

It was all Vulcans in game three, as Josimara Pinheiro slammed down four of her team-high kills, including the match winner.

Gabby Pecora led Dominican with 11 of the team's 26 kills. Swingle and Cayla Morphew each ended the night with three service aces.

The Dominican women continue their search for a conference victory on Sept. 30 when the Lady Penguins host BYU-Hawaii. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Conlan Center.
