SAN RAFAEL, Calf. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team got back on the winning side of things at the Conlan Center on Thursday night with a non-conference sweep of Menlo College.
The Lady Penguins (4-14) downed the Lady Oaks (6-9) 25-19, 26-24, 28-26 in a tidy hour and half match.
Dominican was led by
Gabby Pecora and
Tianna Tuatagaloa, who tallied 18 kills and 17 kills respectively. Tuatagaloa posted a .548 hitting percentage.
Brooke Swingle did a splendid job distributing the ball, dishing out 41 assists.
The Lady Penguins made every effort to get to loose balls, as four players reached double digits in digs. Pecora led all players with 17 digs.
Lorel Grande dug 12 balls and Tuatagaloa and
Jacqueline Woodall each made 11 digs.
Deborah Bekowies led the Oaks with 18 kills. Stephanie Williamson dished out 26 assists in the loss.
The Dominican women travel to UC Santa Cruz for a 7:00 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 10 before embarking on their tour of the Hawaiian Islands for the second round of Pacific West Conference play.
