SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team continued to struggle against Pacific West Conference competition, falling to Hawai'i Pacific University on Saturday night in three straight sets, 16-25, 13-25, 21-25.
Hawai'i Pacific moves into a virtual tie for first place with Hawai'i Hilo with the win, improving to 8-7/5-1 while Dominican falls to 3-14/0-6.
Dominican was limited to a .059 attack clip while HPU connected .235 of the time.
Gabby Pecora had 13 of Dominican's 27 kills and added 13 digs.
Brooke Swingle recorded 21 assists in the loss. The Lady Penguins did not record a single service ace in the match.
Kelly Balanay and Mariana Souza led all players with 11 kills apiece for the Sea Warriors.
The Lady Penguins take a break from conference action. They host former rival NAIA Menlo College on Oct. 8. Match time is 7:00 p.m. at the Conlan Center.
