NDNU silences Lady Penguins

BELMONT, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team was swept by fifth-place Notre Dame De Namur University Argonauts 25-21, 25-15, 25-11, on Saturday night.

In a match that lasted just 63 minutes, the Lady Penguins (4-20/0-11) struggled to compete against the Argos (10-17/6-6), holding leads only once each set.

Gabby Pecora led Dominican with eight kills on 45 attempts. Tianna Tuatagaloa finished the night with seven kills.

LaShelle Rullan had a team-high 16 kills for Dominican.

The Argos put down 49 kills total compared to just 26 by the Lady Penguins and posted a .353 kill percentage compared to the Lady Penguins effort of .090.

Caitlin Torres placed a game-high 15 kills to lead the Argos.

The Dominican women return home to the Conlan Center on Saturday, where the Lady Penguins will face off with the Dominican Alumni of past and present. Former Dominican coaches Susan and Jared Huffman will lead the Alumni. The match is set for 1:00 p.m.
