SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Dominican University of California women's volleyball team is still in search of its first Pacific West Conference victory after a heartbreaking loss to Chaminade University, 20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 15-17.
Chaminade (2-13/1-5) took set one before Dominican (3-13/0-5) rallied two take sets two and three with scores of 25-21 in both sets. Chaminade took set four 25-20 to push the match to a fifth frame.
The final set saw the Penguins holding match point at 15-14 before three straight points by Chaminade ended the match.
Gabby Pecora continued to be a strong prsence for Dominican, leading all players with 23 kills and 32 digs.
Tianna Tuatagaloaposted a double-double with 15 kills and 15 digs. Setter
Brooke Swingle dished out 41 assists and came up with 13 digs. Libero
LaShelle Rullan dug 20 balls.
Whitney Viveiros led the Silver Swords with 16 kills and added 24 digs.
The Lady Penguins look for their first PacWest victory on Oct. 3 when they host Hawai'i Pacific University. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Conlan Center.
