Sarah Byrne

Byrne assumed the role of head coach in October 2012. Before joining the Dominican staff as an assistant coach in September 2011, she served as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge since the beginning of the 2010 season.

As a designated player and outfielder at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Byrne was a two-time All-Big West Conference player. In 2007, as a junior, she led the Mustangs with 37 runs batted in her 14 doubles that season are the third most in a single season at Cal Poly. In 2008, her senior year, Byrne led the Mustangs in doubles, and walks and was second on the team in home runs, RBIs, and total bases. She helped Cal Poly to its record fourth consecutive winning season in NCAA Division I. That included a season-opening 5-1 victory over No. 2 ranked Texas A&M.

For her four-year lettermen career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Byrne climbed the all-time career record list to become third for doubles and walks, fifth in home runs, RBIs, and steals, sixth in slugging percentage, and seventh in triples and appearances.

Byrne attended Torrance High School where, as a shortstop, she was the team’s Most Valuable Player as a sophomore and team captain as a senior. She played club softball for the Crush and the California Cruisers.

Byrne was married in Fall 2014.
