Sandra Ikeora has been named PacWest Defender of the Week for a second time this season. The award is based on games played Dec. 12-19.
Ikeora continued her streak as a dominant inside force in three Hawaii games on the week, averaging 22.0 points, 15.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. She had a career-high 31 points, 15 rebounds, and five steals in a win at Chaminade. She had at least 15 rebounds in all three games of the Hawaii road trip and totaled 38 defensive boards. In the last six games, she is averaging 16.0 rebounds and 9.8 defensive rebounds per game, and totaled 14 steals and nine blocks. Ikeora ranks third in the nation and leads the PacWest in rebounding (12.6 rpg), is 18th in defensive rebounds (8.0 rpg), and is seventh in double-doubles (7). She is second in the PacWest in scoring (19.9 ppg).
The season resumes on Jan. 3, 2017 at Notre Dame de Namur. The Penguins host Youth Night on Jan. 5 versus Point Loma at 4:30 p.m., and Academy of Art on Jan. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
